The lower right of the top screen shows your “Drop Gauge.” This depletes with time, and when it reaches zero, your character is automatically switched between Sora and Riku, a process known as “Drop.”

During the change, the Drop Prizes, which you get from defeating enemies, and some other items are converted into points. These points can be used to temporarily raise the parameters of the incoming character, or obtain new commands and items.

You can also trigger the Drops automatically. However, it is not possible to progress through the game as just Sora or just Riku.

The official Kingdom Hearts blog provided a glimpse today at Kingdom Hearts 3D’s “Memoir” menu.

The Memoir menu includes options for tutorial, game help, recollections and chronicle.

Tutorial includes a bunch of mini tutorials that teach the controls as you play. Options shown in the screenshot include Free Flow Action, Reality Shift, and Link with Spirits.

Recollections includes a look back at the happenings of Kingdom Hearts 3D. Chronicle, shown above, includes a look further back, at all the past Kingdom Hearts games. You’ll be able to see a summary of the stories of Birth By Sleep, Kingdom Hearts, 358/2 Days and so-forth. This will give those who are new to the series a chance to get up to speed.

Kingdom Hearts 3D English Recording Underway, Some Actors Already Done

In December, Square Enix announced a 2012 release for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance in North America and Europe, but didn’t say when or how far along they were in the localization process.

Reports this week indicate that English voice-recording sessions for Kingdom Hearts 3D are well underway, with some of the cast already having wrapped up their work on the game. KHInsider report that Vincent Corazza, who reprises his role as Zexion in the game, is done with recording.

Additionally, Jesse David Corti, the voice-actor who played Neku in The World Ends With You, is recording for the same character for Kingdom Hearts 3D as well. A week ago, Corti revealed over Twitter that was “about finished” with recording his lines.
